During this interactive program, students will identify and draw conclusions about the relationship between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches established by the Constitution. By analyzing primary sources from the National Archives, students will decide whether the United States government more appropriately fits the concept of “separation of powers” or “checks and balances.”

Civics for All of US virtual programs are available for groups of 10 to 45 students free of charge. 

Each program will be led by a National Archives educator. The requesting educator or another educator from your institution must be present during the student distance learning program to observe the session and support classroom management.

Check out the teacher guide for pre- and post- program activities. Students must complete the pre-program activity before attending the virtual session.
